GemBoss
Live · Agent-ready storefront

The next shopper might be software. Give it real controls.

Browsers now ship an assistant that can act on the page it is looking at. A GemBoss storefront hands it real tools: search the catalog, read a product, change the cart, start checkout. Same cart the shopper sees, same numbers you already read.

Illustrative store and session.

What changed

Shopify opened this door in August. What can an agent do on yours?

On 5 August 2026 Shopify began serving a script on every storefront it renders. It registers tools so an in-tab agent can search a catalog and build a cart.

Where the ceiling is

A theme gets a fixed list. Your storefront can declare its own.

Shopify's script carries ten tools. The build we read in August 2026 dropped the path that let a store add one more, so a Shopify-rendered theme gets that set and only that set.

On a Shopify theme

The same ten tools as everyone

  • Catalog, cart, checkout and orders
  • Identical for every store on the platform
  • Closed to anything your brand needs an agent to understand
On a GemBoss storefront

Tools the store registers itself

  • Declared by the storefront GemBoss renders for you
  • Five today, covering the shopping path through to checkout
  • Ours to extend, which a shared script cannot offer
Why it is not a second store

One cart, not two.

The easy way to bolt this on is a separate commerce endpoint for agents. It works in a demo and fails in real life: that endpoint keeps its own basket, and the two disagree at checkout.

  1. 01

    Same cart

Every tool goes through the same code path as your buy button, with the same session. What the agent adds is what the shopper is holding.

  2. 02

    Same screen

Add something through an agent and the cart drawer opens with it. A change nobody can see is not a change worth shipping.

  3. 03

    Same checkout

Checkout stays Shopify's, and the shopper still enters payment. An agent can bring them to the door. It does not walk through it.

Measurement

It shows up in your numbers.

An agent calling a tool touches no button, so analytics cannot see it unless the tools report it. Ours do. Without that, every one of these sessions would read back as a visitor who abandoned a full basket.

  • An agent-driven add to cart is counted as an add to cart
  • Reaching checkout through an agent is counted as reaching checkout
  • In the same first-party analytics as every other session
