Let Claude set itself up. Four ways in.
Start with the first one. Use the next only if your plan or setup does not have it.

Claude Desktop, Code tab (easiest)
Open the Claude desktop app and switch to Code. No folder is needed. Press Copy setup prompt above, paste it into the box and send it. Claude adds the GemBoss connection itself; if it asks to run a command or edit a file, allow it.
When Claude says it is done, start a new session: a new connection loads when a session starts. Answers usually take 20–45 seconds; if they feel slow, pick effort Medium or Low in the model menu under the message box. If your plan has no Code tab, use step 2.

Claude chat, in the desktop app or on the web
Open Customize › Connectors › Add › Add custom connector. Name it
GemBoss, paste your connector URL (under Connector URL above) and continue. Claude picks No sign-in by itself, because the URL is the key. Add it, press Connect, and allow the tools when Claude first asks in a chat. If the connector shows no tools right after connecting, reload the page.Use your own Claude account: in a Team or Enterprise organisation, a custom connector added by an admin is added for everyone in it. The Free plan allows one custom connector, which is all you need.

Claude Code in a terminal or VS Code
Run once:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user gemboss <your connector URL>
The Claude Code extension for VS Code uses the same connection: run the command in the VS Code terminal, or paste the setup prompt into the Claude panel. Then start a new conversation.

Run once in a terminal:

codexcommand? Add these lines to~/.codex/config.toml(on Windows%USERPROFILE%\.codex\config.toml). The Codex app, the CLI and the VS Code extension all read this file.[mcp_servers.gemboss] url = "<your connector URL>"
Then restart Codex (in VS Code: Developer: Reload Window) and start a new thread.

What you should see
- Connected. Claude calls GemBoss Research and answers with numbers: stores tracked, and pages created, changed and removed this week.
- No GemBoss tools. In the Code tab, start a new session. In chat, reload the page, or open the connector and choose Refresh tools list.
- Slow answers. Pick effort Medium or Low in the model menu under the message box. Long answers (dashboards, landing pages) take a few minutes at any effort.
- Key refused. Get new keys above with the same email and code. Each key is new; the old ones keep working until they expire.
